This quilt had been on my mind for quite some time, but the text needed some mulling around in my head. I knew I wanted a more calligraphic style. I'd done thin lines before but hadn't tried the thick parts (or down strokes if you're a letterer) - should I embroider them? Try something else?

I decided on using fusible appliqué, something I usually don't do, but I didn't think I wanted to turn all those teensy edges. I did stitch around each letter and then added the embroidery to connect them. I really enjoyed the process and the way it turned out. I think I just might have to do it again in a future   design.

This wall hanging measures 42-1/2" x 40".
