christy-altered-rolodex

Here’s another journal page from Christy. I agree – don’t worry, be happy! I love her doodle words and scallop.

Here’s how she did it:
Scrap papers and stamped images make the perfect supply list for altering cards in a Rolodex.  They can be altered with any theme including special dates, inspirational quotes, or compiling family memories in mini style.  My cards were altered for a Rolodex containing encouraging scriptures that I hope to give as a gift to a friend.  Check your local thrift shop for a discarded Rolodex.  1033-G Auntie Hyacinth in her flower dress was paper pieced and colored using watercolor paints.  She made looking for a rainbow look like fun.  The bird images paired together painted with blue watercolor paints made this altered card stunning.  A torn paper background and Martha Stewart punch brought this bird themed card to life.

shari-abundanceShari sent this in and it’s just so lovely. Using just one stamp and oodles of embellishments this card is certainly an abundance of sweetness. I love her layers and sweet colors.

christy-journal-dontworry

Here’s another journal page from Christy. I agree – don’t worry, be happy! I love her doodle words and scallop.

Here’s how she did it:
Using a discarded book from the thrift store has made the perfect foundation for creating meaningful art journal layouts.  This layout began with a light coat of blue acrylic paint and a layer of green for a grassy base.  The images were stamped with black Memento ink and colored with watercolor crayons.  The wording was done by hand using a doodling technique.  The finished page captured perfectly a light, airy, happiness.

beate-penguin
Beate sent in this cute winter scene. Isn’t it just fun! She said that she thought Elsa (the St. Bernard) offered some inspiration. Her face looks like she’s a bit astonished and I suppose who wouldn’t be if you saw a little snow race with an actual penguin going on.

Such a cute card.

sheri-beachNew design team member Sheri sent this card in – I think she’s ready for summer! I love the way she did the grassy hills, beach sand and water. She even added a wood stamp background to the sign. She also took the little beach huts stamp which is actually a whole row of dwellings and cut them apart to add three separate huts to the scene – very clever.

shari-snowIsn’t this so cute. Shari, one of the new design team members, sent this in. I just love the gray snowflake background she started with and the trees and snowballs with the puffy paint – just perfect!

kelly-auntie-daisy2Another great card by Kelly. This time Auntie Daisy is seizing the day! Again, I love her use of color (got to love the red hair) and her use of the little buckle embellishments. Now go out there and find something in your day to seize – maybe some chocolate or a new pair of shoes! Ok, maybe that’s not quite what she meant. :)

kelly-auntie-daisyIt’s a new year, a new beginning so follow what makes you happy, your bliss! I love the vibrant reds and her use of embellishments. Thanks Kelly!

Just a little side note, I have a ton of posts scheduled so stay tuned for some wonderful cards coming your way!

barbara-sunshine-smBarb found the perfect sentiment for this stamp – hello sunshine indeed. I think with all the website “happenings” (and more to come) lately “hello sunshine” is something I need. :)

Barb did a lovely job with her layers – cutting out the stamped image and then layering a piece under the curtain with scallops. Using the same pink as the scallops on the little girls shirt really ties things together. Cute!!

kelly-edna-smKelly has quite the sense of humor! Here she stamped Edna who’s sporting a robe, slippers and hair curlers with a great sentiment “That’s right, I’m bringing the sexy! Call me!” I just had to giggle.

Kelly says she paper pieced Edna’s dress and created her own sentiment. I think it’s such a fun card with all her layers in the background and her addition of the red and white string.

sandy-sky-limit-smSandy has been busy making cards. This one features Penelope and Percy kitty. I’m wondering if she took her color cues from the paper she used – the lovely teal and green. The sky certainly is the limit and this card would be perfect for lots of occasions.

amanda-pool-smAmanda certainly did it again! This card is too cute! The perfect background papers – big bright dots, and the other with the fishes. Her color choices are always so bright and cheery. To top it all off she put that wonderful sunshine in the top right corner with a little bit of bling in the form of yellow crystals for the warm sunny rays.

celine-fish-story-smPoor Mr. Wilkerson caught nothing more than a tiny snack for his faithful cat. I just love Celine’s sense of humor. I hope Mr. Wilkerson and kitty have a plan B for dinner!

Here’s what Celine did to create this card…
I stamped and masked Mr. Wilkerson first, then added the background images.  The speech balloon and sentiment were created in PhotoShop, and I drew the fishing pole by hand.  The scene was colored with Prismacolors.

heike-sweet-wishess-smHeike is using those wonderful clouds she creates again. This time they’re the perfect backdrop for Nanna runs free. I love the purple of her dress matching her purple dot tab and the little purple flowers poking through the grass. Oh so sweet.

sandy-looking-up-smI just love this card. Sandy simply outdid herself in creating it. She said it reminded her of when families are apart, they can look up at the sky and think of each other. And that’s exactly the memory it brought back for me. When I was little my parents divorced and we moved away from my dad. He told me that whenever the moon came out all I had to do was look up in the sky and know that he was thinking of me. It’s such a wonderful memory.

Sandy said she used fringe scissors (Martha Stewart) to create the grass – I really think I must have a pair of these now. She cut out the people and animals which I think adds such dimension to the card, that and the lovely little stars of course. Thank you Sandy.
