Happy Halloweenie
Filed Under Holiday: Halloween, Holly | 4 Comments
Happy Halloween to you all! I realize that posts have been few and far between lately. Sometimes when life gets busy, well…
I created this card using my favorite precut circle and scallop cards from Paper Source and my favorite pennant punch (by Epiphany – Shape Studio Tool Pennant 25) – its one that you can use the bubble caps for but I just use it as a punch.
For the card, I stamped the graveyard and then lightly shaded it with grays. I stamped the owl, kitty and Happy Halloweenie and cut them out. Next I drew a little line on the inside of all the scallops. I punched out the pennants and then using the handle of my paintbrush, wrapped them around to give a little dimension. I decided where I wanted them to go and glue the top parts down. I poked holes and then stitched a line over all the pennants. I finished by gluing the owl, kitty and saying to the card. Oh, I added the little orange dots too.
I hope you all have a safe and Happy Halloweenie! I’ll be back with more cards soon.

Pumpkin in twig wreath
Filed Under Holiday: Halloween, Holly | 1 Comment
For this card I wanted something that wasn’t too involved but that had a lot of punch. I had also just purchased a couple of die cuts from Memory box and wanted to use them. I cut out the twig wreath and the pumpkin fit perfectly.

I purchased the holly vine, but to me the first thing I saw with it were little flying bats, so I cut it out of book paper and then added the black crystals over top. The little sparkle you see on the card is just Rock Candy Stickles (my favorite – I wish they sold it in bigger bottles).
Happy Halloween!

Not afraid of the dark
Filed Under Great Customers, Holiday: Halloween | Leave a Comment
“Ah oh”, looks to be his first thought. Estella (Sandee’s Stamps) created this wonderful Halloween card. She stamped the background, added the punched out fence and then cut out the little boy and put him on top. The little accent of orange around the saying is just perfect. And I loved that she colored his little wizard outfit in bright blue – making it not so scary looking. :)

Practice Safe Hex
Filed Under Great Customers, Holiday: Halloween | 2 Comments
Estella (Sandee’s Stamps) got crafty with this card – just look at those embellishments! The background paper is creepy-crawly indeed. I love the way she colored Witch Gertrude and the fact that Little Squeaky bat is cut out and looks like he’s really floating. Thanks Estella!

Halloween book
Filed Under Holiday: Halloween, Holly | 4 Comments
In between making stamps I’ve been slowly working on this project. I purchased this house album and knew I wanted to do something…but what? Halloween!
I started adding paint and paper to the backgrounds and it just kind of took on a life of it’s own.

Most of the stamps from my own line I stamped on either white cardstock or book paper. I found some glue called “liquid scrap dots” and I actually used that instead of foam dots to add dimension to some of the stamps. In the picture above, the crows, I stamped twice, cut them apart and then used the liquid scrap dots to glue things down. Unlike foam dots which are the same height all the way across – with the glue I could push the top part of the the wing down so it touched the crow body – that way it kind of looked like it was flapping a bit.
I had picked up all those sayings on the pages last year at Michaels – they are all Martha Stewart treat package stickers. On most of the pages I distressed them by rubbing a black Staz-on ink pad over the edges. I also used a black marker and just kind of scribbled to add in some detail. Totally fun!

Linda is the Queen of Layering! And this card is no exception. After I see one of her cards I think oh, now I know what to do with all that paper I just bought at the scrapbook store!
She said that she actually made this card before, but liked it so much that she did it again with a slightly different layout. I agree, this was definitely worth doing twice. :)
The card on the left was the first version of “He didn’t mean to turn his sister into a toad”.

A clean haunted house?
Filed Under DT: Christy, Holiday: Halloween | 2 Comments
Christy says “Is it possible to have a clean haunted house? I’m thinking this painting with bleach technique coupled with paper piecing is just the trick to make this haunted house comfortable for the ghosts and goblins.”
And I agree! Although maybe just one cobweb was left for aesthetics. :)
Here’s what she did:
- Stamp the haunted directly on to orange cardstock with embossing ink, coat with fine detail black embossing powder, and apply heat to melt the powder.
- Once this image is set, pour a small amount of bleach into a glass bowl, use a detail paint brush to apply the bleach to the area of the embossed image where you desire a color change. (In this case, I chose the house siding.) The raised embossed lines help keep the bleach from running into other areas, isn’t that the coolest? This slight discoloration makes the house stand out just a touch from the rest of the layout.
- While the bleach is drying, stamp the haunted house image onto white cardstock with black ink. Using detail scissors cut out the eyes of the owl, bat, cat, and ghost, apply a little glue to the back and paper piece them directly on to the orange cardstock in the appropriate position. I instantly fell in love with those darling little white eyes peeking out from all directions.
- Stamp the haunted house image onto brown cardstock and then again on yellow cardstock with black ink. Carefully inspect the roof of the house. Do you see the paper piecing? Again using detail scissors cut out those portions of the roof and attach to the orange cardstock image with glue, making sure you line everything up properly.
- Now stamp Hank on his Hoover image onto white cardstock with black ink and color.
- The Halloween greeting was stamped on yellow cardstock and attached with a short piece of brown string around Hank’s neck. He is one proud puppy flying around the neighborhood spreading his Halloween cheer.
- Layer the card with various cardstock and add a touch of goo at the base with the Martha Stewart border punch.

Toad sister
Filed Under DT: Annie F., Holiday: Halloween | 1 Comment
Annie sent in this card – isn’t it just great! I love how she used the set of books and created her own titles. She also added a little bit of glitter to the end of his wand and drew the moon herself.
Boy oh boy does he have some explaining to do!

Twix bar anyone?
Filed Under DT: Jinah N., Holiday: Halloween | Leave a Comment

Jinah created another yummy candy project – this time using Twix bars. I think I would eat a lot less candy if the wrappers all looked at good as these.

I could see this project being fun for a little treat at Thanksgiving or even a stocking treat for Christmas!
Here’s a close up photo:

Happy Halloween candy tin
Filed Under DT: Jinah N., Holiday: Halloween | 2 Comments
Jinah created this wonderful candy tin – yum! The outside is so cute – with the little trick-or-treaters.

But the inside is even yummier with little Peter Pumpkin adorning each individual piece of candy. This is one time where you’ll certainly want to save the wrappers!

Eat, Drink & Be Scary
Filed Under Holiday: Halloween, Holly | 2 Comments

For this card I used my Martha Stewart fence and hydrangea flower punches again. I just can’t get enough of them. :)
I stamped the background and then added some shading around the edges. Glued all my background pieces on and then used a thick glue dot to glue the witch and her coffee cup.
Happy Halloween Eve to everyone!

Hank on his hoover!
Filed Under DT: Meg C., Dogs, Holiday: Halloween | 1 Comment

Meg sent another card – yeah! This one she actually created for a sketch challenge. I love how Hank the dog is in the moon’s spotlight…what I can’t believe is she actually cut out the cord on the vacuum cleaner!
Here’s the instructions Meg sent:
- For Mr Hank, I stamped and heat embossed on Stampin’ Up. Soft Suede, PaperTreyInk Smokey Shadow, and some Fancy Pants “All Fall” patterned paper, added some details (like coloring in the hat, eye, and bottom of the vacuum) with prismacolor pencils, cut out, and paper pieced.
- For the moon, I brayered Memento Tuxedo Black over orange All Fall paper with a post-it circle on it, then removed the post-it. The fabulous twine is Martha Stewart and the “boo” is from Stampin’ Up Tiny Tags.
- For the bottom layer, I spritzed Gingersnap SmoochSpritz over the same patterned paper I used for the vacuum.

Too cute to spook!
Filed Under DT: Meg C., Dogs, Holiday: Halloween | 1 Comment

Meg has been busy creating her first design team submission – Yahoo! Too cute is right!
Here’s what Meg says:
- The paper is Stampin’ Up’s Halloween specialty paper, and the bats are flocked. I cut it down to 5 3/8 by 5 3/8 and mounted it to a PTI Smokey Shadow base.
- I stamped Zero on Gina K Pure Luxury, colored him with grey copics (C1, C3, C5 and C7), and cut him out.
- I stamped the bat wings on another piece of paper from the same SU pack that has Halloween words on it, embossed with black embossing powder, cut out, and attached to the back of Zero.
- I used foam tape to pop Zero and his wings up.
- The letters are stamped with a Basic Grey $1 set and embossed. Although hard to see, the ribbon is American Crafts corduroy ribbon that coordinates with the flocked bats.
