I think Annie and I had the same idea!annie-ornament-sm
Using a little clear top tin she made this Paw Humbug ornament. She cut everything out, put it inside and before she closed it with a ribbon, added a little bit of snow. :)

In this one, I used Little Cora. I cut out some “hills” and covered them with snow. I put a stick-on snowball in her hand and a few tiny ones in the background.

annie-skatingbears-smAnnie created this lovely snowy scene with a couple of skating bears. It feels vintage to me, like an updated Victorian Christmas card – I think because it’s an oval framed with black and the  little pieces of holly.

She said that she colored everything with Copic markers, added glitter glue on the pond and drew the tree. I also asked and she said that the cut out behind the ovals was actually die cut using a Stampin Up Sizzix die.

Oh, and here’s a peek at the inside of the card…

holly-merrylittle-smholly-merrylittle-detail-smSometimes I love using little stamps. I have quite a few small toy stamps and have been wanting to use them in a card. I’m really enjoying adding a little stitching to cards lately – especially because I poke the holes and then just follow along. It kind of reminds me when I was a little girl and I used to get those punched sewing cards. As usual I had to add a bit of glitter. :)

linda-MittenAlertOutside-smI wanted to announce the newest addition to the Eat Cake Graphics Design Team, Linda McClain! Welcome Linda!

She sent in this wonderful mitten project – it’s all ONE card! I love the mitten, it looks so snuggly and warm. The first photo (above) is the outside of the card, and this one (below) is the inside.

linda-MittenAlertInside-sm

She also shared her instructions, here’s what she wrote…

Here are a few other tips for making a card like this (brave souls):

  1. To make the mitten you can use the new Nestabilities Nested Mittens die cut. So much fun! Hobby Lobby has some lovely embossed felt in their craft isle, and I found the fake fur in their fabric section. You can sew two mittens together with a button-hole stitch so you can slip a dollar or something fun inside it, and then attach the fake fur with fabric glue (Fabri-Tac). The leaf, berry, pine cone, etc., were from a stash of flower picks I dissected for their parts. I have a stash of all the fancy Scrapbooking, archival safe Prima flowers, but I often turn to the fake flower section of Hobby Lobby for unique and cheap flower embellishments. Just pull off what you need from the arrangements and throw the rest away.
  2. For the inside, the chipboard frames are from Maya Road. Just paint them with Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint (Peeled Paint) and sponge them with distress inks. The sentiments were printed from my computer and layered under the frames. You can tie the bow to the frame before adhering the sentiment underneath it – a fun way to embellish chipboard frames.
  3. To color this adorable image from Eat Cake Graphics, just stamp him onto some Neenah paper and a couple more times on your coordinating pattern paper and paper piece away. I added a little Rock Candy Distress Stickles to the snow as a last thought and love how it came out.

wanda-tag-smwanda-tag-detail-smWanda sent in these darling winter wonderland tags. I love the scallop and the use of red -  the circle around the tag hole, under the scallop and of course the bits she colored in on the stamps. These looks so vintage with the toned down colors and little bits of glitter.

meg-i-can-explain-smOh my goodness I think at one time or another we’ve all owed Santa a letter like this. :)

Meg created this too cute little card and I’m sure Santa will understand.
Here’s Meg’s instructions:

  1. I stamped “Sophie Willoughby and her letter” onto Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream and colored with copics. I also stamped her again on a piece of white scrap to cut out and pop up for her letter.
  2. I framed her with Waltzingmouses’s Vintage Labels 4 stamped with Papertry Ink Hibiscus ink, die cut with Nesabilities Labels 4, and sponged around the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink.
  3. The “note” was a journal card from Echo Park’s Everybody Loves Christmas pack, and the stickers are from the same pack.
  4. The background is Papertrey Ink Simply Chartruese, stamped with PTI Polka Dot Basics II in Ripe Avocado ink, then bordered with PTI Hibiscus and Scarlet Jewel cardstock.

Even though the snow is falling this card feels wonderfully warm.

Dagi sent this in and once again her coloring technique adds so much. I love the brown theme – even the sky is not the traditional blue. And could Santa be hiding something in his coat for kitty too?

Dagi-03-Stockings-smDagi created this wonderful Christmas card using two stocking stamps, a patterned background and a tiny alphabet.

I love the way she shaded the card, leaving the center lighter to showcase all those stockings. And oh my goodness – they are all cut out and attached to the card! Lovely.

It’s getting to be that time of year! Of course not to take away from Fall by any means, but the chill in the air just makes me want snow and hot cocoa. Meg sent in a Christmas card for her next project. Her use of the black background with the burgundy ribbon and dark green for the sentiment really makes this card look elegant – with a whimsical touch of course. :)

Here’s the instructions Meg sent:

  1. I used watercolor crayons and SU markers to paint “Sarah pulls Nicky and Otto”
  2. The green Echo Park DP was cut with Nesties Labels 4 and the sentiment is a K&Co rub-on.
  3. I used Mojo Monday Sketch #163 and made it a larger size card – 5×7.  The brown DP is also Echo Park.
  4. I punched two snowflakes, inked them with PTI Chai, added a button and some twine, and attached it to PTI Scarlet Jewel ribbon.

Georgia’s in the holiday spirit again. This time she used Billy and Sparky looking out the window. Again I love the black framing she’s done, just really makes the image pop out. And I simply must go to the craft store and get some lime green grosgrain ribbon! I love the added red jingle bell. Wonderful card Georgia!

Who wouldn’t want Christmas in March with this card! Georgia said while everyone’s making spring and Easter she decided to be different. I love the red backgrounds and the black border just makes everything look so crisp. The little addition of lime green ribbon, just the right finishing touch.

mouseA little side note, when I drew this image it was actually inspired by our cat, Mouse. She showed up on our doorstep and was so sweet. She actually nuzzled up to, at the time, our two big dogs (both over 100 pounds). My husband immediately knew she was here to stay.

Over the years she’s gotten quite grumpy (I’m sure it’s nothing to do with the other three cats that are now here as well), so Paw Humbug is her to a T.
