Do You Believe in Magic?
Filed Under DT: Christy, Fairies | 1 Comment
Christy sent this card in and I just love it! I think her use of black really makes things pop. And her sprinkled background truly looks like fairy dust!
She said that this card features an embossing technique used to create custom background paper.
- Ink up the “Box of fairy dust” image with embossing ink and stamp 3 times down one side of the card.
- Sprinkle fine detail clear embossing powder over freshly stamped images and heat dry. Repeat this process on the opposite side of the card. Although it doesn’t look like much right now, be patient!
- Using foam applicators and various colors of Distress Ink by Tim Holtz ink all over the “just embossed” cardstock. The clear embossing will now begin to pop off the paper as ink is applied. When inking with the foam applicator always move in a circular motion and begin this motion off of your paper slowly working toward your paper. This will eliminate any awkward square markings and leave behind a nice smooth color.
- Then stamp the “Pixie Poppy” image and color with Copic Markers. A few paper layers and die-cut embellishments give this card a little bit of magic.
Give this clear embossing technique a whirl, you will love it!

Sweet Baby
Filed Under DT: Annie F., Fairies | Leave a Comment
Today I’m posting two cards from Annie. It looks like with a little dash of pixie dust and a spot of sunshine she’s growing little sprouts!
I never would have thought of putting little fairy Sprout in the flower pot, but I guess that’s where sprouts go. :) Very clever idea Annie!

Sprinkling of flower petals
Filed Under DT: Jinah N., Fairies | 1 Comment
Jinah created this sweet little fairy card. I just love the way she shaded her flower dress – going from raspberry to a delicate whisper of pink.

I think too that the flower punched border and the stitching are a wonderful touch.

Grandma and magic go hand in hand
Filed Under DT: Christy, Fairies, People | 1 Comment
Christy wrote…
This card was created for my daughter to send along to her grandma. Spending the night at Grandma’s house is always a treat and it will be fun to remind Grandma that she really IS magical and she really DOES make her granddaughter feel like a fairy.
The card uses the Gran’s got hot chocolate image, although the cups of hot chocolate were cut off and replaced with none other than Grandma’s best box of fairy dust. Isn’t it grand to alter images to create a special scene? And of course my daughter, who really believes she is a fairy was stamped with Pixie Poppy. The images were colored with Copics and cut out. The glittery silver ribbon was added with 3 heart brads to give the layout that added magical touch.
I love this card…makes me wish my grandmas were still here.

Hi doodle

Christy told me she recently had some instruction in the “art of doodling” and for this project she thought she’d give it a try. The “hi” was hand-drawn using some of her new “art of doodling” knowledge. Using a masking technique a few Little Sylvie images were stamped around the greeting as if they were playing a game of peek-a-boo. The fairies were colored with Copics and it gave the overall card a wonderfully simple touch of color.
Doodling is so much fun – with pen in hand and a moment to spare, maybe a long phone call or sitting, waiting for an appointment… Now just think if that were channeled into something fun!
Great job Christy! Thanks for sharing your new found instruction in doodling art.

I believe in fairies!
Filed Under DT: Marianne, Fairies | 1 Comment
Pixie Poppy sure is having a good time sprinkling flowers with her fairy dust. Marianne created this cute card using hot pink cardstock. I like the way she carried the aqua blue into the frame. She used a Martha Stewart punch for the edge and topped it off with a corduroy button from Stampin’ Up. She wasn’t sure of the flower stamp manufacturer but my goodness that must be a big stamp!

Birthday Wishes with Fairy Blossom
Filed Under Birthday, DT: Thao, Fairies, Nature, Spring | 3 Comments
Thao found some Martha Stewart flower embellishment stickers that were just perfect! She stamped Fairy Blossom and colored her in using Copic markers. She added a little shimmer to her wings – I think that’s a must for fairies, don’t you. :) She then stuck on the flowers so that it seemed like they were just too fragrant for Fairy Blossom to resist. Absolutely lovely.

Fairy flower sticks
Filed Under Fairies, Other projects, Spring | 4 Comments
Cathrine over at Paper Garden Projects always makes the most wonderful projects! She created these too-cute-for-words fairy plant sticks and inserted them into potted begonias.
Here’s a closeup of fairy Sprout.
I love that she mounted them on the dark cardstock – it just makes the fairies stand out even more. If you get a chance, please visit her blog where she shows how she made these – and just in time for Mom’s Day too!
In her online shop, of the same name, she currently sells my stamps in kits and already mounted on cling foam. Do take a peek.

Frankin Fairy takes flight
Filed Under DT: Georgia, Fairies, Holiday: Halloween | 3 Comments
Frankin Fairy never looked so good! I love Georgia’s use of orange and black with a little pop of purple. That and I like that she cut Frank out and floated him on the card.
She said her inspiration came while she started to thumb through a Paper Crafts magazine. Her eyes landed on the picture of the card called Blue Skies & Sunny Days by Stephanie Halinski. Great job!

Sweet Lilly and her box of fairy dust never looked so lovely. Pam created this card using patterned paper and a big tulip sticker. I love how she layered Sweet Lilly the fairy – gave her dress some sparkle just like the tulip.

Filed Under DT: Thao, Fairies | 3 Comments
This tri-shutter card was made by Design Team Member Thao (also known on SplitCoastStampers as Cal Bear Stamper). Simply amazing. The colors are soft and so very happy – makes me want to sprout some wings and live in the land of fairies. :)

All the sentiment stamps are by Stampin’ Up and she used re-inkers to color everything in.

A wonderful card by Mandy! She used Pixie Poppy as the focal point and layered some ever so lovely papers and added embellishments. What a nice no-sew technique for Poppy’s dress – she stamped it and cut it out of the same paper from the background. Adorable.

Dear Tooth Fairy
Filed Under DT: Georgia, Fairies | 2 Comments
Yeah! The very first Design Team project is in! This one is by Georgia and it’s just darling. She altered a tin to create a Tooth Fairy Box. The sparkle on little Pixie Poppy’s dress was created using a Spica glitter pen by Copic. Too cute!
