Just waiti’n

Georgia is at it again! I love the crispness of this card – it’s almost all black, white and red but then there’s just a hint of bright orange peeking out.
She said that she used a software program to create the fence. Kitty Werther was stamped and cut out, as were the flowers which are actually only part of a much bigger stamp. She layered everything so it’s dimensional – something I find I’m doing more and more of because of the cards the design team sends in. She used the polka dot ribbon and two matching red buttons.
Too cute! Hopefully Kitty won’t have to wait much longer!

Family Holiday invitation

Isn’t this the cutest invitation. Georgia has such an eye for putting colors together – the aqua waves with big polka dots and the bright sunny polka dot orange. I love too that she used thicker pop dots behind the Family Holiday label, Yardley kitty and the waves – it really adds such dimension.
She also sent in a picture of the actual invitation with Scooter down at the bottom – notice he’s sporting the same colors she used on the front. To finish it all of two different ribbons were tied at the top. Kinda makes me wish I was part of the family and getting one of these in the mail. :)

Judy called this card “breakfast, lunch and dinner”. Oh my!
I love the fact that the fish swim outside the circle – very clever. Everything is nicely tied together with Judy’s use of dots – a big dot for the fish to swim in, the dot background and the purple polka dot ribbon – she even added tiny bubble dots with the fish.
Looks like Tarzan kitty is going to be lickin’ his chops very soon!

For the Brave book

What a great project Kriss has sent in! Using the kids from Maple Lane she’s created a wonderful book. I just love the distressed stamp in the corner, her use of cork (something I’m certainly going to have to try) and all of the details – the flags, the brads – oh just everything!
You can click on the picture to get a closer look. Below are her very detailed instructions – thanks so very much Kriss!
- Paint two 5 ½” x 8 ½” chipboard with red acrylic paint. Two to three layers may be needed to completely cover chipboard. Once dry, gently brush on snow paint with Ranger’s Acrylic Paint Dabber to soften red.
- Using Watermark Resist ink, stamp flourish in upper right corner of front cover. Emboss with white embossing powder.
- Cut cork with Keyholes Mover and Shape die (a label shape). Attach to lower right of front cover.
- Stamp For the Brave with black ink on white cardstock. Color with watercolor pencils and blend. Trim to 3” x 5 ¼”.
- Cut light blue cardstock to 1 ½” x 5 ¼” and punch bottom with Effervescence border punch. Attach to bottom of stamped image, and mount both to 4” x 5 ½” black cardstock. Attach to front cover.
- Stamp saying of For the Brave with Watermark Resist on navy cardstock and emboss with white embossing powder. Cut strip close to top and bottom of saying, and attach to front cover with white brads.
- Mask For the Brave to allow cat only to be inked. Ink image with Jet Black ink, remove masks, and stamp on white cardstock. Color with watercolor pencils and blend. Cut into circle shape. Layer on top of navy circle and red scallop circle. Attach to cork label with Pop Dots.
- Stamp For the Brave with black ink on white cardstock again, this time for both the flags. Crease your cardstock back onto itself along the “stick” of the flag, and then cut out three sides of the flag; keeping the folded-section intact. Do this for both flags. Color with watercolor pencils and blend. Attach each flag to a decorative stick pin, by gluing the stick pin inside the folded flag. Insert flags into Pop Dots on back of scallop circle/cat.
- Attach silver sticky-back dots to cork label.
- Cut either white cardstock or notebook paper to 5 ½” x 8 ½” for the pages of your book. Place pages between covers and punch holes at the top with Bind-It-All. Bind book together with white owires.

Are we there yet?

Crafty Math Chick writes…
When I first saw Lewis & Trudy’s Wild Ride I instantly paired it with Are We There Yet? and envisioned the little car driving on a road made of saddle stitched ribbon – thinking it looked like a road. When I looked I thought the Maple Lane House would work nicely with these two images as a “We’ve Moved!” card. For something a little different I scored only part of the card base and cut around the top of the roof and treetop with a craft knife so it would stand out from the top of the card. For the grass I simply took two strips of wild wasabi and cut into it with a scissors (grass is a great way to use up green scraps!) and pulled out a few blades with my hands for dimension.
This card is just too cute! I love the way she used ribbon for the road – I never would have thought of that. Great coloring – the little red car just pops off the road. It’s nice too that she carried just a little accent of red on the house as well. Great job!

Another birthday?

Some years “another birthday” does feel just like this. Georgia created the screen and stamped Katie kitty hangin’ on. Love the use of the background texture, black framing and the silver buttons
This “activity” is actually what inspired the original drawing. There really was a Katie kitty and if I wasn’t paying attention and she wanted in I would sometimes find her half way up the screen door!

Abundance card and pin

Kriss decided to create not only a card but a cute little pin as well! They are simply darling. I love the little phrase she added, it fits the image so beautifully.

Here are her instructions if you’d like to give either of these a try.
- Stamp Abundance two times with black ink on white cardstock. Color with watercolor pencils and blend colors.
- Stamp words two times each with black ink on white cardstock. Trim closely to each word and ink edges with black ink.
- PIN: Align one of the images behind a 2” x 2” Memory Glass and trim to size. Add words to image, and then sandwich between two pieces of Memory Glass. Place into a 2” x 2” Silver Memory Frame.
- Add beading to bottom and adhere pin back to back.
- CARD: Die cut scallop square of bright green cardstock. Trim stamped image to fit, ink edges with black ink and adhere to scallop square.
- Cut turquoise cardstock to 5 ½” x 6 ¼”, fold in half to create a 5 ½” by 3 1/8” top-folded card.
- Add strip of pattern paper to bottom of card.
- Add turquoise ribbon to cover seam of pattern paper.
- Adhere words to bottom right corner and attach image to center of card.
Finished card measures 4 ¼” x 5 ½” Card and the pin 2” x 2”

Georgia said she used to be afraid of mixing papers. I’m so glad to hear that she’s worked through her fears. :) There’s so much going on in this card, yet it all works beautifully!
Georgia says she was reading through Paper Crafts magazine and there was a suggestion – pull out a multi-colored focus paper and then use it as your color guide for pulling in other papers. Funny how crafts overlap because that’s exactly what I do in the quilting world too. It’s a sure way to make sure things go together. Great tip Georgia!

Penelope and Percy Sketchbook

Sometimes a special book to hold our thoughts, sketches or whatever else we feel the need to put down on paper is so nice. Thao decided to create her own little book. She decorated it using specials papers and added a touch of ribbon as a page placeholder.
She stamped Penelope and Percy and then colored them in using Tombow markers. She added a bit of Crystal Effects on the fish to give it a little shine. Oh so lovely.

Hugs for Woogums

Judy created another lovely card, using just one stamp, Holly & kitty Woogums. I like how she offset the image so that part of it comes outside the oval. Gotta be pretty good with the scissors to cut out those whiskers! She added the little flowers and three tiny brads for that little something extra.

Paw Humbug

Who wouldn’t want Christmas in March with this card! Georgia said while everyone’s making spring and Easter she decided to be different. I love the red backgrounds and the black border just makes everything look so crisp. The little addition of lime green ribbon, just the right finishing touch.
A little side note, when I drew this image it was actually inspired by our cat, Mouse. She showed up on our doorstep and was so sweet. She actually nuzzled up to, at the time, our two big dogs (both over 100 pounds). My husband immediately knew she was here to stay.
Over the years she’s gotten quite grumpy (I’m sure it’s nothing to do with the other three cats that are now here as well), so Paw Humbug is her to a T.

Reach for the stars

Christy used Penelope and kitty Percy fly to create this fun, encouraging card. Who wouldn’t want to reach for lavender glitter stars!
The image was stamped and colored with Prisma colored pencils and Gamsol. Penelope’s glasses were glazed over with clear glossy accent, to give them a realistic touch. The blades on the flying machine are connected with a silver brad. The plain lavender cardstock was the perfect background for cutting stars using the Cricut and paper punches and then layered on purple glitter cardstock.

On the lake

I love how Kriss laid out this card, how she put these two images together. The little black scallop border around the kitty image – really sets it off nicely. And the water with the splatter – just makes you want to jump in!
Instructions:
- Use Wrinkle Free Distress technique to ink 2.25” x 5.25” manila paper. Stamp Paddling in the Canoe with Jet Black Archival Ink. Mount to 2.5” X 5.25” black cardstock and adhere to 5.25” x 5.25” white card.
- Stamp Paddling in the Canoe and Kitty on Rocks with black ink on white cardstock. Color with watercolor pencils and blend with blender pen.
- Cut out Paddling in the Canoe, cut away the water’s ripples, and adhere to top of stamped image on card.
- Use oval die to cut out Kitty on Rocks, mount to a die-cut scallop oval, and mount to card.
- Stamp saying with black ink.
- Make corners with black cardstock and run through embossing folder; attach to top left and bottom right corners.

Kitty domino pendant

Design Team Member Kriss created this lovely wearable piece of artwork using a domino. The view on the left shows all the wonderful beads she used to coordinate with what she stamped. The view on the right is a closeup – I love the three little dangling beads. Hmmm…does this mean a new outfit is in order…maybe a new pair of shoes even…
Instructions:
- Drill small hole through domino.
- Use Alcohol Ink Agate technique to ink domino. Once dry, stamp with Abundance using Jet Black Archival Ink.
- Insert large jump ring and use as focal point of necklace.
