celine-groundhog-smCeline created a fun holiday card – no, not Christmas but Groundhogs Day! Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow? Will he?! I guess we all just have to wait and see.

To make the card she stamped Granny Gertz onto the mustard colored cardstock so as not to lose her flying hair pins. Then stamped her again on white cardstock, colored with watercolors, cut her out and attached the image to the card with glue dots.

Celine created the “Happy Groundhog Day” badge in Inkscape and drew the little groundhog  in the center with his shadow. It was then cut out and layered it on top of a piece of red cardstock.  Scrapbooking paper with a floral motif was layered on top of a solid brown stripe, cut and glued down.

Granny’s comment was printed, cut out and added to the card along with the badge.

cathrine-mailbox-before Cathrine said she really hated her mailbox and asked for a new one for her birthday. Well, as sometimes happens unless pictures and actual product skews are involved we don’t always get what we hoped for.

She got this mailbox, one that was “copperesque” (as in a coppery front insert). Well, as a creative person I know, sometimes we just can’t leave things alone, so she decided to change it.

This is what she came up with:
cathrine-mailbox-after
Isn’t this the cutest darn thing!! She wrote “Wouldn’t it be fun to change the scene throughout the year?”, I think so!

She says the scene is mounted on mat board and the whole thing is coated with UV protectant sealer.  Her porch is very protected – so hopefully it will hold up.

She wonders if the mailman will notice….
I say she should wonder if she’ll get any mail. If I were the postman at her house I’d be so busy looking at the mailbox I’d forget to deliver it!

amanda-snowtaster-smAnother lovely wintery card from Amanda. This time everyone’s tasting snowflakes!

I love the way she’s colored in the characters – all the detail and shading. I also love the subtle shading in the background – some nice big fluffy snow-filled clouds. I think she used her favorite powder again (Twinkling Clouds). She’s finished it all off with the perfect little embellishments.

sandy-callie-sm This would be a fun birthday card or if you switched the stamp an anytime card. Thanks Sandy A.

The letters on the background paper give this card lots of movement, and the little squares give it loads of texture. I love the accents of ribbons and little pearls – even one to top off the doggy’s party hat. Very cute indeed.

heike-hello-sm Wouldn’t you just love to receive this great big HELLO in the mail! I sure would. This was created by Heike.

She said that she used scraps of paper to make the background strips of blue, green and yellow. And then she printed out the word on her computer and cut out the letters. She added the critters popping out which I think are just so cute!

heike-gofroggie-smA card full of love from Heike I. in Germany.

While Valentines is certainly the next big card day you could make this for anytime. So many times I think hearts=pink or red, but clearly I need to rethink that. :) I love the unexpected colors of turquoise and orange.

I also love all of the little details – the ribbon, the the greenery and the little orange hearts. Heike said she stamped the frog and then stamped it in reverse. The only way that I know how to do this is stamp the frog on something else and stamp that something else onto whatever it is you’re working on. A fun technique!

amanda-sledding-smThe first card from one of the new design team members, Amanda Reed. (More will follow once I finish with all their orders. :) )

I love the hot pink and turquoise blue color combination – from her coloring to the cardstock she chose. And the embellishments bring everything together – the fresh fallen snow made using her favorite snow stuff (Twinkling Clouds from Sparkle N Sprinkle) and the sparkly chipboard snowflakes. Just wonderful.

holly-christmas-2011

holly-window-smThis time it’s a little glimpse into a window.

  1. Another Paper Source tag. I really like these tags because they are wide – card size. I created the side of a house using some distress ink and then adding little white broken lines.
  2. I stamped the main image on white cardstock and colored everything in using Copics.
  3. I die cut the window and added some texture with a roller stamp and distress ink.
  4. I die cut out the poinsettias with white cardstock and also a couple using the clear packing the die actually came in. I used distress ink (spun sugar) and tapped some pink on. Then I sprayed it all with Goosebumps spray (I’m really liking this stuff, can you tell). On the clear ones I used alcohol ink because I wanted just a little color.
  5. I used glue dots and liquid glue dots to put the tag together. I added a little bling to the flowers, some in the window and a few dots on the saying. I added some “snow” using Martha Stewart’s white texture (another one of my favorites now too).

I believe this will be the last tag that I have time for before Christmas. I hope you’ve enjoyed them. Stay tuned for the post announcing the new design team coming the first week in January.

linda-amanda-smLayers and stitching seem to follow Linda wherever she goes. I just love it!

She sent me this card, you may have seen it if you follow her blog, but it’s just too cute. What I really like is that even though there’s a LOT going on, layers, pattern and embellishments little Amanda doesn’t get lost. In fact I think one of the first things you see is those big white eyes.

I’m definitely going to be trying more layering in the new year. :)

holly-snowman-cheery-smTag time again. This time I knew I used the Tim Holtz lamp post, although I changed it a wee bit (trimmed off some bits).

  1. I’m loving the tags from Paper Source so I used another one for this project. I stamped snowflakes in the background using white paint.
  2. Next I cut out the white part of the background and glued it on the tag. I die cut the snowflakes on the bottom, glued them on and then trimmed.
  3. I sprayed it all with “Goosebumps”. You can see the clear globs in the background.
  4. I stamped the snowman on a white piece of cardstock and colored it in using Copic markers.
  5. I die cut the lamp post in brown cardstock. I then randomly stamped on it to give it a little texture. I cut out a separate piece of cardstock and colored it in yellow. I glued it behind so you could see light. Then I added some glossy accents for shine (just on the yellow part).
  6. I used a label die from Spellbinders and cut out the Cheery Wishes. I glued it on a larger piece of green cardstock and hand trimmed around it. I punched out some holly leaves and added those to the top.
  7. To finish the tag, I glue everything together, added a little decorative stitch (I just punched the holes and stitched through). I added some “snow” to the lamp post and saying using Martha Stewart’s white texture. I added some liquid pearl dots and some red “bling” and tied a piece of tulle to the top.

moon-tags-smMoon sent me a picture of the cutest holiday tags she made using just one stamp – Sophie with her letter to Santa Clause in a simple oval frame with scallops.

She finished them off by tying each one with a little piece of ribbon. Just so very sweet indeed.

holly-pinecone-smHere’s another tag. This time I knew I wanted to use a pinecone die that I got.

  1. I started with another tag (same as the Winter Wonderland tag) I got from Paper Source. I used a snowflake stencil. Once the background was dry I added some white lines with a pen. I also used a new spray I got called “Goosebumps”. You can see the clear globs in the background.
  2. I stamped the shoreline on a white piece of cardstock and colored it in using Copic markers. I used a punch on the edges for a scalloped look. I added a line by the scallops using a silver marker and some little white pearl dots along the top scallops. I also added some “snow” to the trees and ground using Martha Stewart’s white texture.
  3. I created the pine cone (I’ve included a YouTube video at the bottom). I added snow texture to this too.
  4. I stamped the saying in brown onto a piece of white cardstock and just trimmed around it.
  5. I put the tag together. This time I used hot glue to glue the pine cone a greenery on because it was a lot quicker than trying to hold it while regular glue dried.

holly-penguins-smSo here’s the next tag – Winter Wonderland.

I had found this tree die and wanted to build a tag around it.

  1. I started with a tag I got from Paper Source last year. It’s a lot wider than the Tim Holtz die I used in the last tag. I stamped the snow dots in the background.
  2. I cut out the trees using a white piece of cardstock. I glued it to the blue tag. I used some Distress ink to ink around the edges. I also used some white Distress Rock Candy Stickles to add some sparkle.
  3. I stamped the saying on a white piece of paper that I’d cut out using a Nestabilities label die. I glued it to the green piece of cardstock and then trimmed it by hand. I added a line of silver glitter around the white part of the tag.
  4. I stamped out the penguins and watercolored them in. I cut them out.
  5. I put the tag together using some dimensional dots. I cut out some snowflakes (a Memory Box die) and placed them randomly around the tag. I added some bling and a tulle ribbon.

holly-santa-explain-smI don’t know about you but I’ve been following Tim Holtz – 12 tags of Christmas. The tags are just so inspiring! Anyway, I thought I’d do some of my own. I don’t know if I’ll get a few at least. :)

So this is the first one. I’ve seen this saying before and I’ll be making it into a stamp next year because, darn it, who has the time to stamp out tons of words these days!

holly-santa-explain-detail-smI thought little Abagail’s plate looked like it could have contained cookies that were meant for Santa – hence the saying.

  1. I started by cutting out a green tag and then used a dot stencil to add some interest to the background.
  2. I cut out the front tag using a Memory Box die and then stamped the tag and saying.
  3. Next came the rosette (you have to be careful when cutting this out because the textured cardstock came apart when I did the fan fold (you can see on the right size of the rosette).
  4. I stamped Abagail twice. Once is the main image, the next one I just used the plate. I used glue dots so when you look at it from the side it looks like she’s holding the plate out.
  5. I put the tag together and added some sparkle embellishments and a hot pink tulle ribbon.
