holly-merrylittle-smholly-merrylittle-detail-smSometimes I love using little stamps. I have quite a few small toy stamps and have been wanting to use them in a card. I’m really enjoying adding a little stitching to cards lately – especially because I poke the holes and then just follow along. It kind of reminds me when I was a little girl and I used to get those punched sewing cards. As usual I had to add a bit of glitter. :)

Ok, so maybe you’ve seen in a previous post that I absolutely love Tim Holtz’s Paper Rosette Sizzix die.

I was at it again making a Thanksgiving card this time. I stamped the background – I put dots of paint and then scribbled over them. I got out my thread and did a little stitch of teal blue. I also used the Stickles – Rock Candy (another Tim Holtz product). Once I learned that this works better when you squirt some on and then rub it around with your finger (as opposed to the other Stickles that you squirt on and let dry) – well, now I want to use it on everything.

If you want to know more you can watch this YouTube video (the first part is about the Rock Candy crackle paint, the second (at about 6 minutes) is the Stickles):

For this card I used my Martha Stewart fence and hydrangea flower punches again. I just can’t get enough of them. :)

I stamped the background and then added some shading around the edges. Glued all my background pieces on and then used a thick glue dot to glue the witch and her coffee cup.

Happy Halloween Eve to everyone!

Ok, so I’ve kind of gone a little batty over Tim Holtz’s Paper Rosette die. This is what the die actually looks like:
rosette
You run it through any of the die cutting machines – Cuttlebug, Sizzix… and then you fan fold it. I actually didn’t use the center part, I wanted something larger, so I just used a round punch that I had. They are really easy and very addictive – once you make one you’ll want to make them for everything!

Still here

Filed Under Holly | 3 Comments

1031F-frances-fradey-color Hi everyone.

I just wanted to let you know that I’m still here. Family has been in town for a big wedding and between that and trying to get orders out (delayed more than I thought), school (I gave up homework for the past couple of weeks) – anyway, I have a bunch of cards to post so please stay tuned. I should be caught up in the next couple of days.

Hope you’re all having a great summer! I can’t believe July is knockin’ on the door already!

I don’t make a whole lot of cards these days, but thought I’d share this one I made for my mom. I started out with the pre-made card background (gotta love Paper Source (A2 Booklet or Matchbook is what this “shape” is called)).

  1. Randomly stamp the ribbon scroll on card background. Use Tim Holtz Distress Ink to shade around the card edge.
  2. Using Nestabilities shapes, I cut out the background behind Gwennie and mom – one from white Bristol paper and one slightly larger from green print paper.
  3. Everything is colored in using Copic markers.
  4. I then glued everything down on the card. I used white acrylic paint (one of my favorite things to use for adding details) and painted dots throughout the stamped background and “faux” stitches around the green print paper.
  5. I stamped the inside of the card and actually, although you can’t really see it, used a very light gray Copic marker and put a little shadow around each letter.
  6. To finish – I folded it (the score marks were already there and so were the little holes at one end), ran a pink ribbon through the holes and tied a bow. I glued a pink flower on the front.

I hope you all have a wonderful Happy Mom’s Day!

I was able to get a little stamping done in-between filling orders. My brother’s birthday was a bit ago and I actually bought him a little something but never got it mailed – nothing new in my family. :) Anyway, I wanted to make a card and came up with this. Although it’s hard to see I actually spritzed it all over with Smooch spray – so it really does sparkle in person.

walking-dogOk, so I know for many there might be snow on the ground, but here in California between the rain clouds we have sunshine. So I thought I would stamp this little card because goodness knows, the dog always needs a walk.

For this card I wanted the background to be subdued a bit, so I stamped the trees and the grass in a light shade of green. I used my Copic color sheet and found shades of green and a very light shade of brown to color the trees in. I went back in with a makeup sponge and with the same green ink pad, dabbed in around Patrick and Dudley dog. I did the same dabbing only with light blue for a little color in the sky.

  1. Start with a light-teal blue card for the background. Stamp box of dog bones and dish on background.
  2. For the stripe I used the waves Cookie Cutter border die (by Quickutz #CC-BDR-003). I ran part of the wave through my Cuttlebug using a dots embossing folder (UPC 093573316043).
    waves
I added a little bit of white paint to the dots so they would stand out (you could also use a light grit sand paper and slightly sand them to probably get the same effect).
  3. Cut out a circle of white cardstock and stamp Felicia and Sparky. Color them in – I used my Copic markers.
  4. Cut out a scalloped circle.
  5. Mount everything to background and then stamp saying.

This card actually went together pretty easily.

  1. Start with a light-teal blue card for the background. Stamp Official Snow Taster image around background.
  2. For the stripe I used a Cookie Cutter dots border die (by Quickutz UPC #822431015329) – these are actually about a foot long, so don’t let my card fool ya.

  3. Cut out a stripe of white cardstock slightly larger than the first stripe (step 2) and mount both on the background card.
  4. Cut out a circle of white cardstock and stamp Becky. Color her in – I used my Copic markers. I also added just a hint of blue around her (Copic color: BG0000).
  5. Cut out a scalloped circle using the same paper as your stripe.
  6. After you mount everything to the card add the three snowballs (Mark Richards glitter dome stickers).

thankyou-fluffy-bunnyI got a new set of Nestabilities (by Spellbinders) for Christmas – yeah! The looooooong rectangles, so I simply had to try them out.

I cut out the rectangles from Bristol paper and then a larger one from some decorative paper I had had for awhile. In black I stamped Fluffy kitty on one and Bunny the dog on the other. I stamped out the words “Thank you” (from Purple Onion Designs) in blue. I colored in the animals using Copic markers. I then mounted the white rectangle on the fancy paper rectangle and then that to the card. Then I colored in the words with Stickles (by Ranger Ink).

  3. Stamp Mrs. McTwitter onto some white cardstock (I use Bristol paper) and use Copic markers to color her and Tootsie in.
  4. Cut around the image and then add a little glitter to her jacket color and cuff.
  5. Use thick glue dots to adhere her and Tootsie to the card.

Izzi kitty wishing you a Happy Fall.

  1. Start with orange cardstock and cut out a circle (this one is 5 1/4 inches in diameter).
  2. Stamp the vine and text in Perfect Medium ink (by Ranger Ink). Brush on Perfect Pearls powder (by Ranger Ink).
  3. Stamp Izzi kitty on a separate piece of paper, color her in using dark gray and black. Cut her out.
  4. Figure out where you want her, but before gluing her down, add a shadow using a slightly darker orange Copic marker. Then glue the cut out down.
  5. Cut out a slightly larger circle and use the thick end of a brown Copic marker to make the stripes.
  6. Mount the orange finished card to the one with stripes.
