Holly - Happy Thanksgiving

For all those in the United States, I wanted to wish a Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your holiday is filled with warmth and joy, by family and friends, and by stuffing and mashed potatoes. I hope too that you are all wearing something stretchy. :)

The Colors of Fall

Outside it was a little gray, the leaves were rustling and the air was crisp. I thought it was the perfect time to post a fall card. I love these flowers and the little squirrel peeking out at the bottom.

  1. For this project I started with card size tag. I stamped the flowers in black archival ink and used watercolored pencils (Derwent Inktense) to color it in.
  2. I had a little stencil and used some Distress Ink (Tim Holtz – Ranger) and randomly inked over it. Then I inked over the edges a bit more. I randomly stamped the baby’s breath stamp in the same ink – I really like the added texture (and this is now my go-to texture stamp it seems).
  3. I stamped the sentiment on the same tag cardstock and cut it out. I cut out a larger rectangle in a burnt orange cardstock and the little swirl (Memory Box).
  4. I glued everything on the card and added some details with glitter and other dots. Oh, I did add a little extra line of grass at the bottom – the stamp comes with a little bit but not that much.

Happy Fall everyone!

Gertie says Happy Thanksgiving

holly-happyturkeyday-smI thought I would start off the month of November by posting a Thanksgiving card.

I just got the Autumn Gatherings die that Tim Holtz came out with. On one die you get all the leaves, twigs and I think the light yellow is wheat. Pretty cool. holly-happyturkeyday-detail-sm

I cut all of the pieces out and then glued them around the card. I only used dabs of glue so they would stand out. I stamped Happy Turkey Day on a piece of ledger scrapbook paper, colored it with Copic markers and then layered that on top of dark brown. I did the same thing with the turkey.

Once the card was finished I added a little bit of Rock Candy stickles (my favorite) for shimmer and a little silver bead. I also added some squiggle lines, vines in the leaves and a slight border around the saying with a brown colored pencil.

I hope you’re all having a great November!

Ok, so maybe you’ve seen in a previous post that I absolutely love Tim Holtz’s Paper Rosette Sizzix die.

I was at it again making a Thanksgiving card this time. I stamped the background – I put dots of paint and then scribbled over them. I got out my thread and did a little stitch of teal blue. I also used the Stickles – Rock Candy (another Tim Holtz product). Once I learned that this works better when you squirt some on and then rub it around with your finger (as opposed to the other Stickles that you squirt on and let dry) – well, now I want to use it on everything.

If you want to know more you can watch this YouTube video (the first part is about the Rock Candy crackle paint, the second (at about 6 minutes) is the Stickles):
