Donna West Happy Fathers Day

Here’s a terrific Father’s Day card from Donna. I don’t know if she chose the backgrounds first or colored in Ryan relaxing on the float tube – but everything matches splendidly. I love the cut out circle with the faux stitches – it’s a great little detail. And the pop of orange around the sentiment and on Ryan’s shorts adds just the right amount of color. She added a cute little cut out cloud, a wooden button and some twine for finishing touches.

holly-dads-dayWell I don’t know where my mind was! Today is Dad’s Day and I didn’t have this post. So here it is. I’m having a bit of fun with one of the Sizzix pop-up dies. It creates the card base and the little stand-up pieces that allow you to attach things to.

I stamped the house and cut it out, leaving extra on the bottom so that I could attach it to the card. I stamped Crumbs mouse and cut him out as well. I used a little Distress Ink around the edges of the card to give a little shading. I used a bit of white paint on a little dabber through a cloud stencil for the background and then cut out some other clouds using a die cut. I used foam squares to mount Crumbs and the clouds. I stamped the words, gave them a bit of color and then attached them to a dark green die-cutout and then attached everything to the card base.

I love the 3-D effect and really want to try make some more of these.
