Here’s a colorful birthday card sent in by Lynne. I think it’s so cheery and love that Arthur bear stands out. She said that in Northern Ireland, where she is, they don’t really have beach huts, but that she’s seen them when she went on holiday.

Here’s what Lynne wrote that she did…”I’ve had this old beach hut stamp in my stash for years now, so I’ve used it here as a background image and then coloured Arthur to match. Coloured with watercolour pencils. Chalked clouds. Arthur popped up on dimensional.”

Here’s a stackably fun card made by Alex. She used lots of different animals – cat, dog, bear, even a little ant and said that maybe they wouldn’t usually go together but here they are playing nicely together.

I always love seeing what Alex creates. I don’t think there is ever a dull moment in her imagination.

Lynne Jardine - Thanks - Mailbox bears

Here’s a sweet little Thanks card from Lynne. I just love the spot of red in the mailbox and that she added a few enamel dots. She said she colored everything in with watercolor pencils and added a bit of clear gloss to the little mailbox flag. The background was created with chalks – I just love the little hint of clouds and grass.

She did say that she tried to add a shadow to the “Thanks” but says, “I stamped it off a bit too much so it just looks like a smudge here. LOL.” I think it looks just fine. :)

Donna West Thanks bear

Today I’m showing a fun little thank you card that Donna made. I love the way she’s colored little Benjamin bear. Adding the little bit of yellow shading and the tan on the bottom really looks wonderful! All her embellishments are just so perfect!

Here’s what Donna says:
I colored this card with my Prisma pencils and used Gamsol for blending. I treated myself to some new dies from my Favorite Things and the image is on the new die set called stitched scallop squares. I added a giant button and tied some gold twine from May Arts. The plaid paper is from My Favorite Things Plaid 6×6 pad. The words are from Hero Arts.

A fun little card from Alex just letting someone know that they are special. Here she took one stamp, Arthur bear and stamped him five times. She colored all of them the same except one. Isn’t that clever.

And below you can see that Alex just didn’t put the bears on a dark stripe, but says “I used gravel from the model railroad train from my father for the ground.”

Donna West - happy birthday surprise - outside
Here’s another wonderful card from Donna. This time it’s a little birthday bear surprise! The image is actually on the inside of the card. She cut a hole through the card and decorated the outside with all sorts of pretty papers. She added a sweet little vellum heart and topped it with a pink heart where she stamped the sentiment. I think she did a lovely job with choosing colors – Little Drew looks so sweet and Mooshie bear is oh so happy.

Here’s the inside of the card.

Donna West - if friends were flowers

Isn’t this a sweet card from Donna? I love that she used kraft brown paper for the background – It really makes the white she used for the saying stand out. Her grassy green die-cut hill is the perfect place for Benjamin to sit amongst the pretty flowers. Adding the little bit of yellow around the banner and the bow of yellow twine are the perfect accents.

Lori Barnett - birthday bear

Oh my goodness, an adorably cute birthday card from Lori!! Did she know my favorite color combination is orange and green!

Here’s what she wrote:
Arthur Alooishus is here to wish a special someone a very happy birthday. He even has a bear balloon to make the celebration even more special. These images are adorable! Arthur the bear can be used for any occassion. I’m going to use him on a Christmas Card. Make sure to check back here on the Eat Cake Graphic – A Sprinkling of Samples and Techniques Blog to see! To make this card, I stamped the images on Watercolor Cardstock with Distress Ink and colored with watercolor markers. The string on the balloon is hand drawn. I painted some shimmer on the balloon and on top of the party hat, plus added some clear sequins to really make it festive.Lori Barnett - birthday bear - detail

Even if the card didn’t tell us “F U N” it certainly still would be! Alex chose not to do a whole scene this time, just a little snipet of Bosley bear balancing perfectly on a fun colored ball. She colored everything in and added some great little white highlights. A little dab of yellow around the edges continues her theme of primary colors.

And would you believe she used some of her father’s model railroad train leaves so set the ball in. I do hope her dad didn’t miss them. :)

Donna West - you pick me up

Donna sent this in and said that this little guy just melts her heart!

This little card is just so sweet. She stamped Dudley bear by himself and using her Copic markers colored him in and added a little patch of green to rest him on. Donna said she used several different dies from My Favorite Things, DieZyne and Spellbinders (apparently she LOVES all dies)! I love all the layers she added and the orange frames around everything really pulled the card together. Tying the whole card off with a little piece of orange twine was just perfect.
