Donna West - a hauting we will go

Here’s a frightfully fun card featuring The Mummies sent in by Donna. They really stand out against the big white moon – even though they are both white, adding the gray shadow adds definition. She colored with her Copics and used Glossy Accents on his glasses, her lips and the bat’s eyes on the candy pail. She also used her craft knife to cut around their feet so they could be on top of the little hill they are standing on. I think she found the perfect background paper with all those little spiders – eeeeeek! But I guess if you’re a mummy you might not mind? Pairing a great shadow tree and bat works and adding the bit of fuchsia twine brings a pop of color. I think it helps draw a little more attention to Mrs. Mummy’s oh la la red lipstick.

Lynne Jardine - in her handbag

Lynne sent in this oh so sweet card featuring a stamp she loves – Eloise with her secret stash of chocolate in her handbag. She paired Eloise with sweet little Daisy Mouse and said that “I reckon she’s hoping for her share!” I love the way she tied their dresses together using the same sweet pink and same shadows. She colored everything in with her watercolor pencils and then added a bit of Wink of Stella glitter to Eloise’s handbag and to the ribbons in their hats. I think the sweet green vine a big white flower with a pinch of gingham matching the background pieces was just perfect.

Donna West - happy birthday surprise - outside
Here’s another wonderful card from Donna. This time it’s a little birthday bear surprise! The image is actually on the inside of the card. She cut a hole through the card and decorated the outside with all sorts of pretty papers. She added a sweet little vellum heart and topped it with a pink heart where she stamped the sentiment. I think she did a lovely job with choosing colors – Little Drew looks so sweet and Mooshie bear is oh so happy.

Donna West - bewitching

This is a wonderful Halloween card sent in by Donna. She said this was her first attempt at a cloud background. Having taken several tries, she said that she finally got it to look just the way she wanted. Donna got our her Prisma colored pencils and Gamsol for this project. If you’ve never used Gamsol before it’s a great blending liquid for making pencil lines almost disappear – looking more like markers almost. I think Donna’s certainly perfected the clouds which, actually could almost double as dust since I think running into a tree might ’cause a bit. She finished the card with a cute scalloped border, a piece of twine and some glossy accents on the witch’s glasses.

Lori Barnett - Merry Christmas deer

This elegant Christmas card was made by Lori and is just incredible!

Here’s what Lori wrote:
This beautiful Christmas stamp has it all! A fantastic Winter Scene AND a Sentiment! I love that I can keep it simple, or kick it up a notch with a bit of layering and embellishments. The versatility of this stamp is great. To make this card, I stamped and heat embossed the image in white on kraft cardstock. I stamped the sentiment part again, trimmed it out and pop-up on foam tape. To add shading to the deer and tree, I used a Versamark Marker. Sponging Distress Inks on the kraft cardstock really helps to define the white embossing. It’s hard to see on the picture, but I added a beautiful simmer with Dry Rock Candy Glitter, Polar White FlowerSoft and a tiny rhinestone star on top of the tree.

Diane Kaufman - Moose bag

A wonderful treat today from Diane. Who needs a present when there’s a bag as cute as this?! I love all the different greens she used in the trees. She used a hint of gray on the first mountain and gave it a sparkly snow capped top. She added a little tag with “Happy Trails” stamped out.

Now if we’re quiet maybe the moose will stay just a little bit longer.

Donna West - if friends were flowers

Isn’t this a sweet card from Donna? I love that she used kraft brown paper for the background – It really makes the white she used for the saying stand out. Her grassy green die-cut hill is the perfect place for Benjamin to sit amongst the pretty flowers. Adding the little bit of yellow around the banner and the bow of yellow twine are the perfect accents.
