Lynne Jardine - Mara Mermaid

This swimmingly cute mermaid birthday card was sent in by Lynne. I don’t know if she chose her background papers first or if she colored in little Mara Mermaid – whatever the case she paired them perfectly.  She said the colored the image in with watercolor pencils, added a little glitter to her seashell bikini and some little sparkly highlights to the water. Some stitching lines around the pieces really add a nice touch. She finished the whole thing off with a piece of twisted twine, some gems and a sweet little heart. Oh so cute Lynne!

Kim Klinkovsky - perfect frog

Here’s a cute anniversary card sent in by Kim. I just love how she re-purposed stamps that are actually for halloween! She added lots of fun layers – polka dots, a doily, a tag, a heart – wonderful backdrops to her main images. I love her color choices and the sparkly dress she gave Greta.

Here’s what Kim says:
June is the month for many brides and celebrations, me included. So, I wanted to pair these two stamps together to create an Anniversary card. Because you do have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your perfect frog. And I love frogs. I stamped Toad sister three times and cut out two frogs and the wizard’s hat separately. I colored them with Copic markers and made them sparkly with glitter pens.

Lynne Jardine - Not a creature was stirring

Here’s another wonderful holiday card from Lynne. She’s chosen just one image and really made it wonderful. The soft blues that run throughout tie everything together – from her background snowflake paper to the soft squishy pillows. Don’t they look tuckered out! Lynne loves her watercolor pencils and used them in this card. She used my clear glitter pen to add a bit of sparkle to the candy canes and to the pads on the kitty’s feet. She then topped the candy canes with clear gloss. Adding a little twine and snowflakes for finishing wintery touches.

Lynne Jardine - Santas doggy welcome

Today’s card is from Lynne and it’s all about Christmas! I love looking at cards featuring winter scenes when it’s hot outside – somehow it helps. :) Lynne chose to keep the background quite subdued using white on white. She said she used a stencil for the falling snow and added some sparkle glitter to her paste. She then layered the little town also cut out in white on top (I believe that’s a Memory Box die). Using all the white really made her main image stand out. She colored Santa and doggy in watercolor pencils, adding her signature softness and shadows. She made the image pop even more by cutting it out and using dimensional dots underneath. She spread little bits of red throughout – the background the card is placed on, the little tag and of course her die cut sentiment.

Lynne Jardine Good Luck

Here’s a fabulous Good Luck card from Lynne. She said that this is such a happy image – that her dog loves to have her head out the window too! I love that she chose to frame her scene in a circle with a little pen made stitching. Lynn used her watercolor pencils to color Lewis and Trudy in. She added a bit of Wink of Stella and clear gloss to the centers of the wheels and bumpers (I wish my cars wheels and bumpers looked this good). She said she also added a bit of clear gloss to the building windows and star. Just grand!

Lynne Jardine - A big hug

Isn’t this a wonderful Thanks card! Lynne sent it in and it’s so bright a cheery. I always love the way she colors her images, they have a sweet softness to them. For this card she chose to “outline” everything in a raspberry red which I think is very fun. Adding the details of faux stitching lines, little bits of bling and the tag stapled to the top really finishes it off.

Donna West - Happy Birthday Mermaid

This is an under-the-sea little shaker card that Donna said was so fun to make! She thinks Mara Mermaid is just adorable!!! The card itself is just wonderful but add all those little shakeable elements – sparkles with Micro beads and little flowers – wow! Donna said that she added Stickles to the background to add a bit more shimmer. And if that wasn’t enough she added the little other elements as well – the shells, sprig and tying it off with a ribbon.

Summer at the Lake Lori Barnett

Here’s a fabulous summer scene from Lori. I think it deserves a picture frame with glass, don’t you.

Lori said:
I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer day than at the lake. Making this card took me back to my childhood memories of spending summer days swimming, boating, and totally enjoying the “Lazy Days of Summer!”

Here’s what she did:
To create this fun card scene, I stamped the boathouse and pier images on watercolor cardstock, then painted with Spectrum Aqua Watercolor Markers. Ben is stamped and watercolored on a scrap of the watercolor paper, then cut out and popped up with foam tape. How fun is that?! The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed on designer patterned cardstock, which I then hand-cut in the shape of a cloud.

Donna West - For the brave

Donna sent in this wonderfully patriotic card. I love the background she chose, the time worn painted flag. She stamped the image and using a limited color palette colored everything in. She found the perfect accessories to finish off the card – big stars, a few sprigs, the little bling of crystals and the red, white and blue twine.

I hope everyone in the United States has a wonderful and safe 4th of July holiday!!

Donna West - Cuppla Love

Donna sent this in and said “This little card I created not just for the DT but I’m currently in a craft group that meets once a week to craft, it’s called The Crafty Hens!! Isn’t this just the perfect card for one of the “hens” in my group? I can’t wait to give it to someone on their next birthday!! I colored with my Copic Markers. The little chicken wire background is a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The burlap flowers I cut out from the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral die. EEEEEK!!! I just love these hens!!!”

How perfect is this card for her little group. I love the way she colored the hens, giving their feather distinction. The background dirt they are sitting on is pretty darn amazing too – all with her Copics. I think she found the perfect embossing folder – the chicken wire background. Topping things off with little bits of red gingham makes the card just grand.
