Here’s another card from Alex, this time she’s sending Good Luck. She used the little mushroom stamp five times in a row – what a great way to make an impact. She kept her color palette to a minimum using just red and green and if you look closely she added lots of shimmer. I think it’s very effective and it’s sure to bring the fortunate receiver lots of luck.

lynne jardin too late for cake

Lynne Jardine, one of my newest Design Team members, sent in her very first card. Isn’t it wonderful! I love the splatter background – and the clever way in which she broke it up with the rectangle and square. She added simple sketched lines for borders, some little crystals for sparkle and tied it off with a bow. I love her color choices too – little Abagail in the blue dress really shows off against the background. Great job Lynne!

Here’s a little write up from Lynne about what she did:
I’ve always loved this little girl stamp (doesn’t she look the picture of pure innocence!) – combined with the text stamp she makes a great Belated Birthday card.  I’ve coloured her with watercolour pencils and added clear gloss to her empty plate.  My BG is just a quick swoosh of Shimmer Mist.  Photo frame and little Abigail popped up on dimensionals, and a few random gems added from my stash to finish.

monica poo who loves you

This adorable little “whooo loves you” card was sent in by Monica Poo. She has an incredible ability of taking something relatively simple and small and making it into something HUGE on sweetness. She used Mr. Who on some Japanese paper that was actually meant for watercolors. But, she used her Copics instead. She was pleasantly surprised when they didn’t bleed on the paper. She then added tiny polka dots in the background, three paper hearts and some crystals and it’s just grand! Thank you so much Monica!

Lori Barnett Grasshopper FunI wanted to announce that Lori Barnett has agreed to continue sharing her works as part of the design team. Wheeeee!! or better yet, Wahooo!

She sent in this card, although it’s taken me just a little bit so some of you may have already seen it. I just love how cheery this is! The bright greens just pop – as does the added dimension of the layered leaves and little grasshopper. What a great idea to just layer a few pieces.

I wanted to be sure to include what Lori wrote as well:
What fun these cute little grasshoppers are having! I just love creating little scenes with my Eat Cake Graphics stamps. The possibilities are absolutely endless. This card shows you how easy it is. For added dimension, I stamped the plant again on a scrap, then colored and fussy cut a few of the leaves to pop up on top. I did the same for the grasshopper that’s in the air. It’s soooo worth the little extra time!  All the coloring was done with Spectrum Noir markers. The clouds were made by hand-cutting a piece of scratch cardstock in the form of clouds, then sponging blue ink while holding it in place. Such a simple technique – and it really pulled the scene together. The single die-cut cloud was lightly sponged around the top with the blue ink, then popped up with foam adhesive. I couldn’t resist adding some sparkle and shine with colored glitter and a clear glaze pen. Oh happy day!

Here’s another adorable Easter project from Donna. This time it’s the cutest little treat box! She’s put little Binkley bunny in a Polaroid frame and the soft colors she chose made him look so sweet. I love the way she cut out the sentiment and topping it all off with the little flower and bow – I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want to open it because I’d just want to look at it all day!

Here’s an adorable Easter card sent in by Donna. Did you notice, it’s a clear card! I’ve never thought of that before but isn’t it just a grand idea. I love the polka dot paper and that she cut out Binkley bunny so he’d really stand out. I think she found the perfect embellishments – the sweet ribbon and white scallop cutouts. Oh so cute.

This card was sent in by a great customer, Kathleen Chabot. I asked her right away if I could post it and she said yes. The picture is a little bit tiny but it’s just wonderful. Kathleen said “I’ve been a story teller since I was very young, but have no talent for drawing, so I love finding stamps that have stories in them.”

I love creating scenes myself. Sometimes when I’m filling orders I’ll pull stamps and happy little things happen as stories unfold and want to be told. Kathleen’s little scene has so much life – she writes “Marmie is patient, but perhaps a little too concentrated. How Crumbs managed to burst through plaster or drywall is a mystery. I think he’s one smart mouse!”

Thanks so much Kathleen for sharing your story. :)

I’m so excited to finally share the new design team! Please welcome (in alphabetical order):

I’m on pins and needles with anticipation of what they will dream up.

I actually already have a few cards to post, including the one in this announcement sent in by Alex. I thought it fit so perfectly – “Happy”. I just love her colors and if you click on the picture you’ll see a larger version and really be able to look at all the detail – the little white highlights in the grass, the sparkle she added on the firefly wings and the kite – just wonderful. Isn’t it such a cheery scene? I sure think so.

Thank you Alex, Diane, Donna, Kim and Lynne for saying yes to being part of the design team.

Until the next post.
