joanna-too late for cakeAnother fun card from Joanna! Once again she’s framed everything in a dark color which really makes the two circles stand out. I love the background, that its not just a solid piece of paper, but cut into three strips. She’s done a great job color – and adding the little blue shadow. Topping it off with the flowers – I do hope Bosley bear isn’t too late for cake after all!

joanna-she was happyJoanna sent in this very happy card. I just love how she used the pink polka-dot patterned paper on both the background of the card and Eloise’s dress. Framing everything in black really makes the layers stand out, as does her use of bright yellow for her hat. Oh so cheery!

monica-looks like christmas both

Here are some early Christmas cards – although is it ever to early to start planning what you’ll be doing for holiday cards?

Here Monica has used the same two images but switched the papers and the image colors. I think the are so sweet. She’s topped both cards off with a cute little bow and tiny little heart.

kelly-parents
An oh so fun card made by Kelly. I love all the orange! She’s got loads of layers going on here. I love her faux photo frames and the fact that the image actually goes just a little outside the border. Kelly says that “Mom has Wink of Stella on her sunglasses and Dad has Wink of Stella on his pool toy.  I also paper pieced Dad’s shirt.” She also says that she’s been counting the days until summer vacation since THANKSGIVING! :)

holly-dads-dayWell I don’t know where my mind was! Today is Dad’s Day and I didn’t have this post. So here it is. I’m having a bit of fun with one of the Sizzix pop-up dies. It creates the card base and the little stand-up pieces that allow you to attach things to.

I stamped the house and cut it out, leaving extra on the bottom so that I could attach it to the card. I stamped Crumbs mouse and cut him out as well. I used a little Distress Ink around the edges of the card to give a little shading. I used a bit of white paint on a little dabber through a cloud stencil for the background and then cut out some other clouds using a die cut. I used foam squares to mount Crumbs and the clouds. I stamped the words, gave them a bit of color and then attached them to a dark green die-cutout and then attached everything to the card base.

I love the 3-D effect and really want to try make some more of these.

stephanie-good bye tensionI don’t know about you but this sounds grand – good-bye tension, hello pension!

Stephanie sent in this playful retirement card. I love her color choices, so cheery and the light clouds in the background. She finished it all with lots of stitching – which I always love.

stephanie-lazy dayHere’s a great card from Stephanie. She’s used Walter enjoying the lazy days of summer. Her background squiggle paper is perfect – reminds me of water ripples and the big polka dots just as so much fun. She topped it off with some coordinating brads – too cute.

monica-thinking-of-youAnother adorable card from Monica. The little Polaroid frames she used are just the right size for Herbert and Daisy mouse. The little maps are just perfect too. I love that she layered the card with the hearts and the cut out mice.

lori-beware of dog
How cute is this card?! Lori sent it in. I just love Crumbs mouse flyer by with the “beware of dog” sign in tow.

lori-beware of dog detail
Here’s what Lori writes:
Crumbs the mouse is making sure everyone knows to watch out for Mr. Pugsley! LOL! I used 2 techniques on this fun design: Watercoloring and DIY Stencil. I stamped the grass with green distress ink – then watercolored with paint. To create the cloud, I made my own stencil with a piece of cardstock – then placed it on the card base and sponged with blue distress ink. The 3 images were stamped on white cardstock with black archival ink – watercolored with paints and distress markers – then trimmed. Twine is attached to the back of the images before mounting to card base with foam adhesive. The dog is adhered flat at the bottom – but I used a piece of foam adhesive behind his head to give a bit of dimension. Clear glaze pen added to dog tag, paw pads, eyes, nose and on the mouse’s sunglasses. I finished off with some sparkle by adding crystal glitter around the clouds and on the grass. Cute and funny all wrapped up in one card! (I AGREE!)
