cathrine-mailbox-before Cathrine said she really hated her mailbox and asked for a new one for her birthday. Well, as sometimes happens unless pictures and actual product skews are involved we don’t always get what we hoped for.

She got this mailbox, one that was “copperesque” (as in a coppery front insert). Well, as a creative person I know, sometimes we just can’t leave things alone, so she decided to change it.

This is what she came up with:
Isn’t this the cutest darn thing!! She wrote “Wouldn’t it be fun to change the scene throughout the year?”, I think so!

She says the scene is mounted on mat board and the whole thing is coated with UV protectant sealer.  Her porch is very protected – so hopefully it will hold up.

She wonders if the mailman will notice….
I say she should wonder if she’ll get any mail. If I were the postman at her house I’d be so busy looking at the mailbox I’d forget to deliver it!

amanda-snowtaster-smAnother lovely wintery card from Amanda. This time everyone’s tasting snowflakes!

I love the way she’s colored in the characters – all the detail and shading. I also love the subtle shading in the background – some nice big fluffy snow-filled clouds. I think she used her favorite powder again (Twinkling Clouds). She’s finished it all off with the perfect little embellishments.

sandy-callie-sm This would be a fun birthday card or if you switched the stamp an anytime card. Thanks Sandy A.

The letters on the background paper give this card lots of movement, and the little squares give it loads of texture. I love the accents of ribbons and little pearls – even one to top off the doggy’s party hat. Very cute indeed.

heike-hello-sm Wouldn’t you just love to receive this great big HELLO in the mail! I sure would. This was created by Heike.

She said that she used scraps of paper to make the background strips of blue, green and yellow. And then she printed out the word on her computer and cut out the letters. She added the critters popping out which I think are just so cute!

heike-gofroggie-smA card full of love from Heike I. in Germany.

While Valentines is certainly the next big card day you could make this for anytime. So many times I think hearts=pink or red, but clearly I need to rethink that. :) I love the unexpected colors of turquoise and orange.

I also love all of the little details – the ribbon, the the greenery and the little orange hearts. Heike said she stamped the frog and then stamped it in reverse. The only way that I know how to do this is stamp the frog on something else and stamp that something else onto whatever it is you’re working on. A fun technique!

amanda-sledding-smThe first card from one of the new design team members, Amanda Reed. (More will follow once I finish with all their orders. :) )

I love the hot pink and turquoise blue color combination – from her coloring to the cardstock she chose. And the embellishments bring everything together – the fresh fallen snow made using her favorite snow stuff (Twinkling Clouds from Sparkle N Sprinkle) and the sparkly chipboard snowflakes. Just wonderful.

I think this is the best and worst part of having a rubber stamp business – best because I get so see so many talented people and hear about who they are and what they do, but the worst because I have to actually choose.

I want to say thank you so very much to everyone for putting yourselves out there and submitting. Please know, that I would loved to have chosen you all but unfortunately I can’t. Choosing a design team is ongoing, so please, if you didn’t get chosen this time, there is always the next design team call around the corner.

So without further delay I’d like to introduce the newest Eat Cake Graphics Design Team (in alphabetical order):
Amanda Reed
Barbara Housner
Cathrine St.Clair
Celine Ryan
Heike Ihde
Janis Choi (YoungSuh Choi)
Kelly Clark
Leigh O’Brien
Madame Samm
Maria Lovello
Sandy Allnock

And yes, see what I mean about not being able to choose – the design is double the size I had originally planned. :)

Hi everyone.

First and foremost, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Secondly, I’ve gotten so many design team submissions – thank you so very much! I find that I need a few more days to finish narrowing things down and to contact the proposed team.

So please say tuned, I promise to post an announcement in the next few days.
