Petuna is certainly in the birthday mood with her kitty balloon!
Judy created this card using both high and low tech skills. She printed the sentiment from her computer and then used a template and her trusty scissors to cut out the oval. She colored everything in with Copic markers – love the use of the shading. She edged the oval with aqua fluid chalk and doodled around it with a black marker. She added a string to the balloon so it wouldn’t float away. I guess this is one time that kitties and chickens are gettin’ along. :)

Judy ’s at it again, this time creating a cute card for baby. Ahhhh…
She says she started with a plain white card and layered hot pink cardstock and two coordinating pattern papers on top. She cut a pink strip for the middle and a slightly smaller white one and doodled around the edge using a marker. She stamped all the pull toys, colored them in and cut each one out. She adhered them to the back and drew in the little strings. She stamped and cut out Rosebud bear and glued her to the corner. The “Baby” was printed from her computer.

Beach swap
Filed Under DT: Marianne | 2 Comments

Is summer here yet? Nancy and Bill are certainly ready for it! Marianne sent in this card featuring “the Parents” also known as “the Tourists” sporting their summer attire. She found the perfect sticker featuring a beach sign. And the background paper featuring all sorts of under-the-sea creatures. Very cute!
Marianne says that she started a Yahoo! group and for her first project she actually had a little anonymous swap. Below are some of the cards people sent in. Just click to see a bigger version.

Abundance card and pin
Filed Under Cats, DT: Kriss, Jewelry, People, Spring | 3 Comments

Kriss decided to create not only a card but a cute little pin as well! They are simply darling. I love the little phrase she added, it fits the image so beautifully.
You can click on either of the photos below to see a detail view…
Here are her instructions if you’d like to give either of these a try.
- Stamp Abundance two times with black ink on white cardstock. Color with watercolor pencils and blend colors.
- Stamp words two times each with black ink on white cardstock. Trim closely to each word and ink edges with black ink.
- PIN: Align one of the images behind a 2” x 2” Memory Glass and trim to size. Add words to image, and then sandwich between two pieces of Memory Glass. Place into a 2” x 2” Silver Memory Frame.
- Add beading to bottom and adhere pin back to back.
- CARD: Die cut scallop square of bright green cardstock. Trim stamped image to fit, ink edges with black ink and adhere to scallop square.
- Cut turquoise cardstock to 5 ½” x 6 ¼”, fold in half to create a 5 ½” by 3 1/8” top-folded card.
- Add strip of pattern paper to bottom of card.
- Add turquoise ribbon to cover seam of pattern paper.
- Adhere words to bottom right corner and attach image to center of card.

Judy created this lovely little card featuring Gertie. She says that she doesn’t have any fancy machines that cut ovals, but she does have a template and scissors. :) Sometimes I wonder if I’d be better off not having so many things – I forget that I don’t need a cartridge or metal punch for every shape on earth! Who doesn’t have a pair of scissors or two. :)
Judy says too that she likes to draw and Gertie looks liked she need to be holding something and what better something to hold than flowers. She inked around the edge of the oval with Fluid Chalk and put the card together.
Great job Judy!

This is the inside of the card.

I don’t make a whole lot of cards these days, but thought I’d share this one I made for my mom. I started out with the pre-made card background (gotta love Paper Source (A2 Booklet or Matchbook is what this “shape” is called)).
- Randomly stamp the ribbon scroll on card background. Use Tim Holtz Distress Ink to shade around the card edge.
- Using Nestabilities shapes, I cut out the background behind Gwennie and mom – one from white Bristol paper and one slightly larger from green print paper.
- Everything is colored in using Copic markers.
- I then glued everything down on the card. I used white acrylic paint (one of my favorite things to use for adding details) and painted dots throughout the stamped background and “faux” stitches around the green print paper.
- I stamped the inside of the card and actually, although you can’t really see it, used a very light gray Copic marker and put a little shadow around each letter.
- To finish – I folded it (the score marks were already there and so were the little holes at one end), ran a pink ribbon through the holes and tied a bow. I glued a pink flower on the front.
I hope you all have a wonderful Happy Mom’s Day!

Click on the photo below for a detail view.
With frames like this you’ll want to display photos all over the place! Kriss created a very imaginative summer themed project this month. Her son looks perfect in the frame sporting a smile and his soccer attire – I’m sure he’ll be out in this neighborhood scene playing soccer very soon!
Here are her instructions if you’d like to give this project a try…
Instructions:
- Paint outside and inside edges of frame with Sail Boat Blue paint.
- Cover frame with pattern paper.
- Stamp Summer Neighborhood with black ink on white cardstock and chipboard.
- Color image stamped on white cardstock. Cut out around houses and trees allowing approximately a 1 ¼” “grass” base.
- Cut out chipboard image in the same manner. Paint all the edges with black paint. Once dry, adhere colored image on top.
- Using gel medium, attach the neighborhood to the base of the frame.
- Add a few buttons for embellishments.
- Apply alphabet and number stickers, and trace around each one with a black Sharpie marker to make them pop.
Finished frame measures 6 ½” x 8 ½”

Kriss is creating her own background “papers”. When I first saw this card I thought it had been run through one of those plastic embossing folders – you know, the ones you run through a Cuttlebug or Sizzix machine. But upon closer inspection I thought wait a minute, how can that be because those are stamps! I love this technique – especially the fact that Kriss added the little pops of pink and blue.
Here are her instructions if you’d like to give this card a try…
Instructions:
- Randomly stamp Scroll with Leaves and Tall Scrollies with Watermark Resist Ink on 4” x 5 ¼” black cardstock and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder.
- Create shimmery paints with Perfect Pearls. Pick up a small amount of Perfect Pearls with a paint brush and place them on a Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Add water and mix together to create paint. A little water creates an opaque paint, whereas more water makes a translucent one. (Dried paints can be reconstituted with a little water.)
- Paint around embossed images with various colors. Finish by splattering paint on panel.
- Stamp vintage label and greeting with black ink on pink cardstock. Punch out label with Curly Label Punch.
- Wrap green ribbon around stamped black panel and attach to 4 ¼” x 5 ½” top-folded pink card. Add vintage label.

Pendelton and Peewee
Filed Under Bears, DT: Crafty Math Chick | 1 Comment

Crafty Math Chick has been very busy indeed! Not one but THREE cards featuring Pendelton and Peewee for this month. You can click on any of the cards below for a detailed view.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
I love seeing Pendelton and Peewee in white. She did a great job adding the touches of pink in their ears and on their feet, as well as adding a touch of shadow with a really light colored marker. The hot pink she chose for her backgrounds makes everything pop.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
For this card we see Peewee and Pendelton in brown – great shading too. Everything’s so color coordinated – picking up the wee bit of orange in the background with the orange diagonal stripe layered on top. The finishing touches with the brads and the buttons add so much.
HELLO BABY
And we can’t forget baby now can we. :) I don’t use ribbon much but whenever I see it used in a card I think why don’t I? I love that she layered the three colors in the background with the embossed polka dots! Great job!

Oh bears!
Filed Under Bears, DT: Thao, People | 2 Comments

Thao created this sweet little card by first stamping Drew, Mooshie and Itsy Bitsy with Versafine ink and then embossing everything using clear embossing powder. She got out her watercolor crayons and colored everything in. A very sweet card indeed – maybe to send someone a bear hug. :)

Do you remember looking up at the stars when you were a kid and wishing? Or maybe it’s even something you do now. When I originally drew Mia, teddy, Sweet Pea and James looking up I thought of so many things they could be looking at – stars, cloud shapes, birds…
I think Pam did a lovely job and has once again made wonderful use of her Tombow markers – such an eye for shading!
To make the twinkling stars in the night sky – she used the blade of her cutting knife to scrape off the watercoloring to reveal the plain watercolor paper underneath. That is a nice, neat way to show the light paper when you need to. What a great technique! But she also says, just be careful not to press so hard that you rip your paper and scene!
