spamFirst and foremost I have a number of design team projects to post, so stay tuned for some wonderful inspiration!

Second…I’m a pulling my hair out. I actually have two blogs – a personal one and this one. For some reason this blog is getting spammed like crazy! I don’t know why but every day I’m getting dozens of messages in my inbox with comments (spam) to delete. Out of almost 1,000 comments over 800 have been junk. I’m trying to figure out what to do because I’m going crazy trying to keep up with it all. I don’t really want people to have to log in to post comments but it’s almost getting to that point.

word-verifyI’ve seen other blogs that when you type in your comment you also have to type in either letters or a word. This stops almost all, if not all, spammed messages. Unfortunately I haven’t found whatever this is called for WordPress – which is what type of blog I have.

If any of you have an idea of how to do this I would be MOST appreciative.

Ok, toodles for now. I’ll get the new projects posted soon – promise!

Oh my gosh Holly – I am so sorry you are having to deal with this! 80% spam is BAD! I wish I knew more about wordpress to help you out, instead I am sending hugs your way. (LOL – when I first logged in today I thought, oh wow, someone embellished a container of Spam… LOL!) Hang in there

Hi Holly – just did a search on-line using “WordPress comment verification” and a few thoughts came up. I am not familiar with WordPress but this one looked fairly good?

Holly, you will for sure want to install Akismet – it is the very best spam catcher for WordPress (developed by the guy who invented WordPress). I know you have another solution right now but with akismet you may be able to fly with out the word verification and your readers will love you. It’s good stuff.
